Picnic areas & view site
There are two picnic areas at Krantzkloof Nature Reserve which both provide facilities to relax with the family while enjoying the babble of the nearby streams.
A gate entrance fee is payable at both picnic areas.
- The Kloof Falls picnic site is situated adjacent to the M33 between Kloof And Waterfall. It is an extremely popular spot for Durbanites and tourists to visit and enjoy a picnic in the shade of the indigenous trees on the banks of the Molweni River.
- The Nkutu picnic site in Valley Drive is popular among local residents. It is situated on the banks of the Nkutu river as it winds its way deep in to the valley where it meets the Molweni River before flowing in to the Umgeni River.
Braai facilities and picnic tables with benches facilities are available at both picnic sites on a first come, first served basis – NO BOOKINGS are taken for picnic spots. Should you prefer to bring your own braai. it should be at least 50cm off the ground to prevent damage to the lawns.
Toilets are provided at both picnic sites with Nkutu site including a handicapped friendly toilet and a baby changing area in the ladies toilets. The fairly level picnic site and car park makes Nkutu suitable for visitors in wheelchairs to enjoy the fresh air and outdoors in the shade of one of the trees on the banks of the Nkutu river.
The view site, which is situated higher up Bridle Road, provides breathtaking views over the Molweni River valley below. From the cliff edge at this spot, you may be fortunate to see some resident raptors circling above the trees in the valley below. This special spot is definitely worth a visit.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to Krantzkloof.
