Nkutu picnic site
The Nkutu picnic site in Valley Drive, which is only open on weekends and public holidays, is popular among local residents. It is situated on the banks of the Nkutu river as it winds its way deep in to the valley to meet the Molweni River, before flowing in to the Umgeni River. A number of trails start (or end) at Nkutu – by following the Nkutu trail, one can access both the upper and lower Nkutu falls, which are spectacular after rain.
The reasonably level picnic site and car park means that Nkutu is a suitable venue for wheelchair bound visitors to enjoy the outdoors in the shade on the banks of the Nkutu river.
Braai facilities and picnic tables with benches are available on a first come, first served basis – NO BOOKINGS are taken for picnic spots. Should you prefer to bring your own braai, it should be at least 50cm off the ground to prevent damage to the lawns.
Toilets facilities at this site include a wheelchair accessible toilet and a baby changing area in the ladies toilets.
There is a jungle gym and swings for the children.
No loud music is permitted in the picnic site.
No fishing in the dam or river.
Toilets are available.
